Clothing:Summer clothes will still do, but bring a coat or cardigan to cope with early morning and evening coolness because in the last ten days of September the weather becomes cooler and windy, especially on the mountains of Longsheng north of Guilin.

Things to Do
The fall colors of the Longji Terraces FieldsThe summer is long in Guilin, and summer turns into a pleasant warm, sunny, and dry autumn in September. It is anideal time to visit Guilin's scenic locationssince the weather is neither hot nor cold.
Mid-Autumn Festival:Thesecond biggest Chinese holidayusually falls in September, though occasionally the public holiday is in early October. Moon cakes featuring the fruits and nuts of the season are the favorite festival food. If you arrive around the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, you will be fortunate to enjoy the moon cakes and beverages by the Li River. Hopefully the bright harvest moon will brighten up the river with silvery shimmers.
Longji Terraces in Longsheng:At the end of September and early October, the Longsheng Terraces are in harvest time and the rice is golden. You will get amazing pictures of nature and the people. Farmers are busy with their farming, and the golden color will just make you happy.
You can pick your own teaat tea plantations in the area. It is high quality but cheap tea! You can enjoy picking your own tea, walking to small villages to have a meal, and then exploring off the beaten tourist path. There are about 8 different ethnic groups sharing the terraced region. The ethnic farming villages, their architecture, and their food are all memorable.
Longji is about a two-hour drive from Guilin, and China Highlights will do our best to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable trip. We can also arrange a hiking trip in this area. There are about 65 square kilometers of these terraced fields to walk around in, and the elevation of the highest peaks is about 1,000 meters (3,200) feet high.
Li River:In September it rains little and it is almost always sunny. The sky is blue and the air quality is fresh. There is a clear view, and it is a good time to have a nice walk alongside the Li River or take a Li River cruise or rafting trip. We can arrange a car ride back to Yangshuo or Guilin for you.
Yangshuo countryside bikingBiking in Yangshuo:天气也为骑自行车沿着最优Li River or in Yangshuo that is a small town near Guilin. You can feel the cool breeze when you ride bikes, and it is not very crowded in September. Yangshuo is where the Li River cruise boats dock at the end of the trip. We can arrange an exciting day with a cruise in the morning, lunch on the boat, and an afternoon of biking and seeing the sights.
High Travel Season
September is high travel season for foreign tourists. There is a surge of travel for Chinese who come in or leave Guilin for the Spring Festival if it's in September and for the October National Day holidays. You'll find that hotel rooms, flight tickets andtrain ticketsare more difficult to get, but we can book these for youat a discountcompared to what you would pay if you tried to get the tickets yourself.
It is a waste of your time to stand in line in crowded train or bus stations waiting for a possible ticket. Try to avoid the golden week of National Day (from October 1 to October 7) and the last couple of days of September.
