Overview
The museum instructs on shipping, ship technology, warfare, and trade of China, the rest of Asia and the Western countries. You can learn about the history of shipping as it affected Hong Kong and about current global trends of trade and shipping in Hong Kong. You'll be instructed aboutHong Kongand China's future role in world shipping. The museum includes both permanent and special exhibitions, dynamic displays, educational events and a museum shop.
There are two galleries that display 500 exhibits including ship models, paintings, antiques, and shipping documents. The highlight of the Ancient Gallery is a precious model of a ship that was made in the Han Dynasty 2,000 years ago. The Modern Gallery explores the factors and that have made Hong Kong a maritime success with one of the world's busiest ports. You can also learn about ship technology and prospects for future technological innovation.
A highlight of the Modern Gallery is an interactive computer simulation display that allows the people to practice controlling the helm of a modern container ship and guide it into Hong Kong's big port.

Ocean Parkis a large amusement park featuring performing animals, aquatic animals of various species, and amusement park rides. It is 7 kilometers to the west. Shek O Country Park is about 4 kilometers to the east along the road. If you want to go for a meal, world-famous restaurants are a few kilometers further west.

Important Information
- Ticket: 20 HKD for adults and 10 HKD for students, children and senior citizens.
- Open: Tuesday to Sunday every week and public holidays from 10 am to 6 pm. Closed on Mondays and 1st and 2nd days of Lunar Chinese New Year.
- Best time to berth: anytime.
