Located in the Huamu Administrative and Cultural Center of Pudong New Area, Century Park is 28 kilometers away fromPudong International Airportand 24 kilometers from Hongqiao International Airport. It is the biggest city park withinShanghai, rich in natural features. With an area of 140.3 hectares, the park mainly consists of lawns, forests and lakes.
Attractions
In the park, seven scenic areas such as the Rural Field Area, Lake Area and Woodland Lawn Area, as well as 45 scenic spots such as the Century Flower Bell, Mirror Lake and High Column Fountain have been built.
Shanghai Century ParkThe park is also equipped with 13 participatory recreation projects such as a children's park, leisure bicycles, sightseeing buses, boat trips, a fishing area and a Pigeon Recreation Zone, along with coffee bars and restaurants.
Rural Field Area
The Rural Field Area is at Gate 3, within which pictures of bonsai of various shapes are scattered around.
Lake Area Century Flower Bell
Backed against the Mirror Lake, facing Century Boulevard, Century Flower Bell is the representative attraction of Century Park. The round flowerbed is 12 meters in diameter. Graduated by boxes and embellished with flowers, the flower bell is very bright and colorful. It is timed by satellite instruments, with a deviation of only 0.03 seconds.
公园开放the public on April 18, 2000. In memory of the trans-century significance, and due to its position at the end of the Century Boulevard, the bell was called Century Flower Bell.
Mirror Lake
It is an artificial lake. It covers an area of 125,000 square meters, and is as deep as 5 meters.
Open-air Music Square
The open-air theater is at the west end of the park. It covers an area of 8,000 square meters. The front auditorium can seat 2,500 people, while the theater can receive 4,000 people if it is fully open to the public.
Music Fountain
The music fountain is composed of 208 fountain nozzles and 600 illuminations.
Green World Relief Wall
With a total length of 80 meters and a total area of 178 square meters, the Green World Relief Wall is made of granite. The artwork demonstrates 29 kinds of animals and plants in the Asia-Pacific area.
Among them, the animals include Chinese pandas, Thai elephants, Vietnamese buffalos, Australian kangaroos, American eagles and Russian bears. The plants, from the left to the right, are plants of the tropical zone, the subtropical zone, the wet zone and the cold zone respectively, ranging from the land to the sea.
Woodland Lawn Area
The Woodland Lawn Area can be divided into four zones: the spring zone, the summer zone, the autumn zone and the winter zone, with a great number of flowers planted in each zone.
The park has set up sightseeing bus projects. The fixed sites are at the entrances of Gate 1, Gate 3 and Gate 7 of the park. Sightseeing buses go along the main road in the park. When you take a sightseeing bus, the driver will also describe the scenery along the way to you.
